2006 Statistics

In 2006 the Food Bank Network of Somerset County...

• Distributed approximately 404,000 pounds of food, of which about 80% was donated and the balance purchased by the Food Bank
• Assisted 396 people by paying for 931 prescriptions at a total cost of $51,139.00
• Paid $13,795 in utility bills for families in need
• Provided $7,000 in rent assistance
• Provided food for 250 Thanksgiving Day meals served at the People Care Center; distributed food for Thanksgiving Day meals to 650 families, and for Easter meals to 600 families
• Delivered 1,400 packages of food with turkeys or hams at Christmas and, with United Way, distributed 12,670 gifts to 4,544 people throughout Somerset County
• Completed dental work for 38 children through Pediatric Dental Care Program
• Through the Vision Care Program, assisted uninsured residents with eye examinations and prescriptive eyeglasses
• Assisted approximately 300 women returning to the workforce by supplying donated clothing and accessories through the Working Wardrobe program
• Our warmth program collects and distributes coats and blankets during the winter months.
